A career can be thought of as “whole of life” work. We can “work” in lots of areas of our lives.

These include community or voluntary work, recreation and leisure work, study and training work, paid work and life role work - the things we do at home and with others.

When we are working we are developing skills, skills and more skills!

Transferable skills. are different types of skills and we learn skills that can be used in other workplaces.

Employability skills are what employers look for in employees.

Hard skills can be thought of as skills we use at work; things that are specific to what we do.

Soft skills can be thought of as how to behave at work and how to treat others.
